We have received several calls from clients noting they have received threatening calls or voice messages that they are in “serious trouble” with Canada Revenue Agency. CRA does not operate this way and would never use these tactics. If there was an issue they will send a number of written communications long before it gets to the level of seriousness noted in the calls.
We suggest you ignore the call.
If the caller persists, then refer it to your local police but above all do not engage in discussion with the caller. If you have elderly family members, please warn them of such calls, as they are often targets for these sorts of scams.
