A Must-Have for Canadian Non-Profits and Charities!
There are many benefits to moving your CRA relationship to the online My Business Account or “MyBA.”
If you’re a non-profit organization or charity, making the switch will be important if you want to receive timely assistance from the CRA, so let’s walk through the ins and outs of the MyBA and the Represent a Client service.
What is the Represent a Client service?
This service is meant to provide representatives with secure online access to CRA account information on behalf of individuals and organizations. There are different levels of account access that a representative can be assigned once you’ve set up your My Account and have proven your identity.
What is the My Business Account?
My Business Account is an invaluable tool that simplifies the process of managing tax and financial information.
The online portal gives you access to all of your tax accounts, including payroll, HST, charities and more. You can use it to file returns, retrieve account history, make payments and set up direct deposit.
For charities, you can apply to become a registered charity through the My Business Account, or submit yearly returns and required documentation such as financial statements. You can also use it to update your organization information, upload supporting documents and correspond with the Charities Directorate.
To use online services for charities through MyBA, your organization needs a business number (BN) and an associated charity account (RR).
