When Tae Lee came across an RHN job posting for a Client Services Accountant in early 2022, he knew he’d found something special.

“Instead of a typical job description, the posting said that they were looking for a rising star,” remembers Tae. “It was just so different from all the other firms I’d been applying for. There was something about it that spoke to me.”

Given Tae’s love for providing service, building relationships and—of course—accounting, RHN fits perfectly into his career goals. Even if those goals weren’t always clear to him.

After partially completing a chemical engineering degree, Tae took a break from school, realizing that while he loves math, analytics and data, engineering wasn’t the career path for him. While he thought about his next step, he worked at a local restaurant.

“I really loved the customer service aspect of the job,” says Tae. “I gained a lot of people skills and confidence at that job, and I knew that I wanted a career where I could interact with and help people.”

That said, he admits that accounting isn’t typically thought of as a people-oriented career. “When I first decided to try accounting courses at BCIT, I was worried it would be too boring!” he laughs. “But the instructors showed me that it was more than just data entry. It really is about providing a service to businesses who need it.”

And that service-oriented attitude is exactly what RHN is all about. The firm is dedicated to serving both their team members and their clients to the best of their ability, and that, according to Tae, is what he saw reflected in the job posting many months ago.

“I’ve now been working at RHN since March 2022, and every day I am amazed by how nice everyone on the team is!” he says. “Plus, there’s lots of variety in the work, so I get to solve a new problem almost every day, always with the rest of the team backing me up.”
